Get started

  1. Open FluxPaper from Applications. Look for its display icon in the menu bar.
  2. Click the icon to open the wallpaper gallery. For multiple displays, use the tabs to choose a screen.
  3. Click Change now for a fresh view. Open Settings to choose your source, timing, framing, and filters.
  4. Under General, enable Launch at login if you want FluxPaper ready when your Mac starts.

I can’t find an app window

That’s expected: FluxPaper is a menu-bar utility. Its controls open from the display icon, rather than a separate standalone window. If the icon is hidden by a menu-bar manager, expand that manager’s hidden items.

Use your own photos

In Settings → Rotation, choose My Photos or Mixed. Allow Photos access when macOS asks. You can also check access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos. If no local candidate is available, FluxPaper can use Featured photography for that display.

Skip photos with people

Open Settings → Privacy and enable Skip people. Apple Vision checks new wallpaper candidates on your Mac. The option is off by default and applies to Featured and My Photos. Detection is imperfect; it can miss a person. If no suitable candidate can be checked, your current wallpaper stays in place.

Different display shapes

Each connected display gets its own view. Select its tab in the gallery and use Settings → Framing to adjust smart framing, motion, and transitions. Mixed laptop, portrait, and ultrawide displays are supported.

System requirements

FluxPaper requires macOS 26 or later. Updates and downloads are available from the Mac App Store.
